As a weight loss program coach with experience spanning 20 years, I found the majority of people irrespective of their body weight could not answer one very basic nutrition question: “do you know your Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) for food energy?” ...let alone its breakdown into the food groups of fat, protein and carbohydrates as a part of practical day-to-day living. If we can’t answer that, then how would we know if we’re getting important baseline nutrition?
That inspired a deep dive into how one might define a well balanced diet. We are fortunate to have many specialists such as nutritionists and dieticians (of which I am not), scientists and researchers providing information, studies and data that is readily available in our digital information age. Yet there was a gap between that great resource and the reality of what passed peoples lips each day.
So why now? My life took an unexpected turn in 2019 when a unique opportunity arose to work with a small team of doctors in Silicon Valley, California who were achieving a world first in the field of children's scoliosis. I placed my coaching services on hold for 7 years whilst working remotely with the doctors as a Case Director - a remarkable and life changing experience I will always consider a privilege. My formal role with those doctors concluded mid 2025, allowing me freedom to focus on a long held vision of a simple nutrition tool that could serve all people.
What's the big deal? Without knowing basic nutritional literacy, the reality is we’re at the mercy of a fickle food environment that’s possibly robbing us from quality of life, with the worry of potential chronic disease lurking around the corner. It affects all cultures and all income brackets. The idea that there must be an easier way to know what we're eating and drinking was the seed of what is now The Quilly Life Program.
We feel that when you’re equipped with Quilly Life you’ll be upskilled in basic nutritional literacy and thus be more empowered to drive life in line with your own goals. My hope is that Quilly Life serves you well!
